Our Story

MEET OUR PRESIDENT & FOUNDER, TERRY L. ATKINSON, CPA, CMI

A West Virginia native, armed with a Computer Science and Accounting degree, Terry began his career at Ashland Oil, Inc. He spent six years working as a computer programmer and developer. During this time, Terry made an incredible impact by developing sophisticated mainframe technology for property tax systems, requiring years of in-depth exploration and analysis of property taxes.



From there he moved to Manhattan to begin work as a tax manager for KPMG. As he honed his property tax expertise, Terry experienced incredible success at KPMG and obtained multi-million-dollar savings for Fortune 500 companies.

When the idea came to Terry of starting a firm outside of Manhattan, where he could offer superior, more customized services at a better price, he saw it as the perfect culmination of his experiences and expertise. He could not let it pass him by. Terry took the opportunity and moved back home to Kentucky, where he started INTAX.


Over the last 30 years, Terry has grown INTAX to be a respected national property tax firm, accomplishing exactly what he set out to do—offering tailored services at an affordable price point. When Terry steps back from his duties as President, he will do so knowing he has created a solid foundation for INTAX to continue thriving for decades to come.



Terry graduated from Marshall University with degrees in Computer Science and Accounting. He completed a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), with a focus in finance from the University of Kentucky. He is an active member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation® (IPT).
